Grandmothers Rita and Beatrice

Seeds of Intentions is reeling from an amazing three-day event that we co-sponsored in Carbondale, Colorado. The highlight was a screening of the movie, For the Next Seven Generations. Two of the grandmothers, Rita Long Visitor Holy Dance and Beatrice Long Visitor Holy Dance who were featured in the film and are members of the Grandmother’s Council, were in attendance.  Along with those guests,  here is the list of other guests and attendees:

Davian Stands, Ogala Lakota
Nathan Blindman, Oglala Lakota
Aloysius Weaselbear, Oglala Lakota
Northern Ute Grandmothers, Elders and relations:
Loya Arrum, Northern Ute
Kerry Cesspooch, Northern Ute
Joy Grant , Northern Ute
Christinia Eala, Tiyospaye Winyan Maka Fort Collins founder
Troylynn Yellowwood, Lakota
Mary Wheeler, Navaho

It’s so interesting how an intention can manifest in such an expansive way.  When we set an intention, we often limit ourselves to the outcome. Initially, our settled purpose for the Grandmother’s weekend was to provide an opportunity for others to bear witness to a movie that is focused on building a bridge to peace through relationships and inspire others to do the same. Well, so much more transpired.  We were blessed with being a part of several ceremonies, much healing, and divine guidance.  The planet is a better place today because of what occurred in Carbondale last weekend.

Lisa DeBussy, from Carbondale, one of the main organizers of the weekend, sent this profound and exquisite piece of writing to the rest of the committee on Tuesday morning after the weekend festivities had a chance to sink in.  There is no better way to describe what happened over three days than to let you read Lisa’s thoughts:

From my heart,  Our sacred gathering

There was a moment in time when a thought became a dream, and the dream was spoken of, and mana was fed into it, and the dream stood up and became action. And the magic flourished. Like feathers in the wind, whispering to those who knew how to listen and could hear their song, people gathered and the manifestation began.

They came from around town. They came from different tribes. They came from the backside of mountains. They came from different states.  They gathered.

The houses were prepared. The grounds were cleansed. The sacred fires were lit. The sacred pipes were smoked. They sang, and they talked, and they listened. They played beautiful music, they played games. They spoke of prayers; they spoke of heartache and of ritual and of death and of healing. They spoke of ancient tradition and they witnessed new ways of being. Voices held quiet through tradition were set free on this land; speaking of hope, sharing prayer and power. Grandmothers and children, family and strangers united.

Time stood still. Night and day and earth and sky merged. Star beings came in close to bear witness. Rainclouds ushered in held their gifts until closing then bathed the lands in their cleansing rains. Rock beings, plant beings, animal beings, human beings, all became family. All the natural elements were gathered and the waters were blessed and the people were blessed and the planet was blessed.

Opposites became one, intricately woven to compliment and give each other strength. Friendships were formed, community sprouted with the fluidity of acceptance and open hearts and divine grace

Miracles took place. Healings were spontaneous. Everywhere there was continual sharing of abundance and laughter and playfulness and hearts and stories.

Gifts were given. Hearts were opened. Spirits were fed. Alliances were formed. The magic continues in us all, with each sacred breath.

I bow down low caressing the earth and breathe her in; I rise tall and touch the stars. I have breathed you in, and held you close and let you know our souls have reveled in the dance. Paths cross and join and cross and join.

You are now a part of me, and I am, a part of you.

We had this question asked on our blog, so we thought we’d give everyone our thoughts on the answer.

What a thoughtful question and one many of us face frequently.  One Law of Attraction idea that I always remind myself of whenever I’m trying to “cast out thoughts of doubt or negativity” is I am still focusing my energy on what I do not want.  I am giving power to what it is that I am trying to get rid of.  In my resistance, I feed my vibration of what I am wanting to go away, and I find myself feeling frustrated.

So instead, I formulate in my mind exactly what I do want.  I get a clear, concise image of what I want and I feel my body relax which leads to contentment.  Even if the clear picture goes away quickly, I bring it right back.  The clearer my vision of what I want is, the easier it is to go back to it when thoughts creep in that I don’t want.

Another Law of Attraction idea that works for me when the “happiness burglar” strikes is to do one small thing that brings joy and not focus on the final end result.  If I’m fifty miles from the end of the trail, the end of the trail seems insurmountable.  But, if I know right around the bend is a beautiful meadow with a rock to rest on, I can enjoy the journey.  For instance, if losing weight keeps bombarding my thoughts, instead of trying to envision myself thirty pounds lighter, I see myself drinking water and eating ripe delicious fruit.  Both of those concepts help one lose weight, but the focus is not on that outcome.  I think instead, “I am hydrated and renewed when I drink water.  My body functions well, and I have energy.” or “I love summer fruit.  The sweet taste of peaches make my taste buds soar.  I am so content.”

Don’t try to cast thoughts away.  Replace them.  Break the neuropathways in your brain that have been built around the ideas you want to go away.  Build new neuropahtways to happiness and contentment by focusing on what you want.  Happy creating!

“Every gift from a friend is a wish for your happiness.”

Richard Bach quotes

Friendship is such a sacred and beautiful part of life.  Each one of us who is blessed to have a special friend knows how important those relationships are in our lives.  Finding just the right gift for a friend can be challenging.   Personally, my favorite gifts that I have received from friends are the ones that hold  special inspirational messages.  One of my favorite gifts I was given by a friend was a necklace that said, “Not all who wander are lost.”  Because I was getting ready to venture out on a three month long journey across the country, this was a perfect inspirational gift for the occasion.  Think of all of the times in your friends’ lives that require an inspirational gift:  birthdays, transitions, loss, or accomplishments.   We, at Seeds of Intentions, understand that finding the right inspirational gifts are important, so we’ve selected the most unique and meaningful gifts we could find. When you buy any product that is handmade, you are purchasing an item that is seeped in the energy of the person who made it for you.  The thoughts that are generated as the person creates is a part of the creation.  That is why it is so important for us, at Seeds of Intentions, to select products that emit loving and positive energy.  Both of our jewelry designers, Dogeared Jewelry and Amy Fortunato express just that type of vibe with their natural handmade jewelry designs.

Take a look at our amazing video guru, Liz, as she shares the natural handmade jewelry we carry at Seeds of Intentions.  When you wear the jewelry, you can’t help but be inspired.

Artistic T Shirts, Love Designs on Bamboo Clothing

Today I have decided that July 26 is officially marked as Seeds of Intentions Love Fest.  What is a love fest?  Well, it’s a time to celebrate all the love that you are attracting into your life!

Just in the seven hours that I have been awake, I have been inundated by love.  My husband woke up this morning, kissed my forehead, and sweetly and sincerely told me that he loves me.  Love fest #1!

I love my t shirts and today was no exception.  I wore my favorite kelly green “Love, spirit, mind, experience” t-shirt with a huge Hawaiian looking flower in the center.  Love fest #2.

By 7:00 a.m., I was on a massage table receiving a yummy massage from my friend, Betts, who had just received her Colorado license.  She worked her magic and when I left, she placed a beautiful handmade prayer shawl in my hands.  What a loving gesture?  Love fest #3.

While sitting at my computer, two wiggly off-task puppies licked my calf, and then stared straight into my eyes sending me their good mojo.  Love fest #4. Come and get your love at Seeds of Intentions today.  Every day is a love fest!  What you focus on expands.  Expand LOVE!

Dogeared Jewelry Pearls of Love Necklace“What are you waiting for?  Wear the pearls!”

This statement woke me from sleep at around 3:00 a.m. recently.  I had selected a picture earlier that week for a collage that I was creating to honor my inner child.  The image was of a young girl, no more than six, draped in strand after strand of pearls.  So, I believe these pearls of wisdom came from her.  At 3:00 in the morning, I really didn’t want to ponder the message, but when I woke up later it was still ringing in my head.   What was the message?  What did that wise child want me to know and recognize?

Well, I can’t remember the last time I wore those pearls.  Etiquette has taught me that pearls are meant for special occasions only.  So, I think I’ve worn my strand of pearls maybe a dozen times in the last ten years.  They have a special place in my jewelry box tucked in the bottom drawer.

My little “pearl girl” wasn’t whispering, but shouting, “Get those pearls out!” So that very morning, I got them out and wore them proudly with my faded denim skirt, and white t-shirt with a hole on the side.

Several people that day looked at my necklace with an uncertain stare, but no one said anything specifically.  I secretly wished they would have because I wanted to share my story.  While I was working, I caught myself sliding my fingers over the pearls which made me smile.

I know that the pearls were only a metaphor for me.  They represented everything that I covet, everything that I stuff away in a dark drawer and only bring out once in a while for special occasions:  my wedding dress, my grandmother’s antique china, my dark purple eye shadow.  Life is meant to be lived.  Not once a year, not once a month, not once a day…but every single second.  All that matters is this moment.

So what are you waiting for?   Take the pearls of wisdom from my “pearl girl” and grab whatever you’ve been saving, and wear it, drape it, and use it.

Life is meant to be lived.  We only have today.  We only have this moment.  Saturate yourself in living loudly and outrageously.  Be daring.  “What are you waiting for?  Wear the pearls!”
